I've heard serious SEO companies charges a percentage of your earnings. That's a good way to proof they will make you grow with their SEO efforts and they know they can do it.

It's easy to guess that works very good when the SEO company gets a big client.

I wonder if is it possible to get a serious seo for your website/s when you are just a professional or smal company.

I'd like to consider getting a seo and see how much that costs really.

Experiences and opinions are very welcome (also stick me if you are SEO)

unless you have deep pockets, you should do a lot of reading here and do it yourself. its really not that hard to understand, but you have to make a huge time investment

so i'd say that you have a choice to either spend the time, or spend the money.

My little company has a few large clients and a handful of very small clients with a few others mixed in between. Some clients have us do everything for them and others have us help them do certain things for themselves.

It's great to find a small business with potential and then help them build it up on the net. A lot of these smaller companies, can put their own sweat equity into the link building efforts.

Find an SEO guy (or gal) to do the basics for you, give you some good advice and a little hand holding. If you're lucky all that effort will produce some significant revenue that will pay for future SEO efforts.

i wont say who, but when I was getting quotes for SEO on my site, i was getting quoted in the range of 60 to 80 thousand dollars for a one year campaign. And of course, as you stated, these are "supposed to be" serious SEO companies. The big boys.
Keep in mind, i have a pretty large site in a very popular market. I am in top 10 in all of my search terms, actually top 5 for most (and I already was when i was getting the quotes). I wanted to get more of my deep links included in search results.

First, let me say this:
THATS a lot of money....
that's what i mean about deep pockets.

I have SEO'd my own site since 97. I wanted to hand the project off to a firm who would keep me in the running, monitor changes in position, and make adjustments. So, :-) I am still doing it.

You can always hire a young SEO intern for you, but you run the risk of them doing something drastic for positioning and maybe getting you banned. So you will always need to know what they are up to.

Of course, this is only my opinion..

I agree with you. I'm afraid something goes wrong and loose my business instead some bucks.
I saw similar budgets U$600 and similar and don't know what can they do really. 1 year linking campaing means how many links more to you? 1000? 2000?

You cant just rely on inbound links, but they surely are a part of it, and do need them. But you need to SEO from within. $600 will not get it done unless you have a very small site.
You can sub out your links campaign to a freelancer, but you have to find out how they will place those links for you. If they use anything automated, then do not use them. If they say they will get you 1000 links for $600 - I would run.

Content is king. Internal link structure is queen.

If you build it (right) they will come.

Affordable SEO For small businesses does exist and it works.

Google the phrase "Affordable Search Engine Optimization" and you'll find several companies. Some truly do provide the service whereas others may be able to provide "affordable" service for larger firms. Companies that generate $1000 - $5000 per month can't afford the very high fees many SEO firms demand but there ARE a few.

Check the portfolios of the companies who's prices you think are affordable for you, then contact them and ask them how they go about performing their SEO service. What will you get for your fees? And better yet, contact some of the clients on their portfolio.

It never hurts to ask!
