You don't need a book - you can find all you need here and interact with other people in the same space.

Start here:-

[webmasterworld.com...]

Seriously, a book would be a waste of money. There are no magic shortcuts - it takes time and effort.

I strongly agree with trillianjedi. I think by actively participating in forums, such as WebmasterWorld, and by researching as much as possible, you will obtain a strong grasp of SEO.

The main problem with any book is freshness and accuracy, considering how fast things can change in the SEO world.

But on the other hand, I do understand that time can be a factor. In that case, I can see the benefit of a training manual or a book. The problem with that becomes credibility and truly useful information.

I have absolutely no affiliation with either of the following, but I do have respect for Aaron Wall and I have downloaded a sample chapter of his SEO Book and found it very informative. Another good book that I found useful is the Search Engine Marketing Kit by Dan Thies.

I hope this helps.

i also used to look for hard books and found that when it comes to the web and such these forums and just scouring the web for info is a million time more updated and accurate. I know its nice to sit with a nice book and read but get a laptop and get started here and you will be good to go.
