We 'look after' just over 100 sites. Most do very well, thanks to our SEO efforts (most of which learned from your good selves).

However, we have had a few 'cursed sites'. Sites where no matter what we do they never list, or list poorly.

Same SEO techniques, clean domain, similar KWD, no daft mistakes, no over submissions, toothcomb applied, checked and double checked etc etc

Sites where every bit of advice has been followed - sites which never get spidered .

One site took 7 months before it got a No1 spot and the same week the customer went bust (..errr not because of the web site problem) - now thats 'cursed'.

Are we alone?

No, you're not alone. I have one site that simply refuses to rank well on any engine. After months of fruitless tweaking and retweaking, I admitted defeat and headed down the road of building doorway domains for it...

On the positive side though, I've been free to play around with usability and design ideas without worrying about destroying rankings :)

I have two sites for one client:

- One of them ranks in the top 5 for almost all of it's phrases and keywords.
-The other one always had bad rankings and just suddenly got dropped from the listings in Google.

Pain in th a**!

The curse is lifted.

One of my longest cursed sites just surfaced with three top tens.

See, all I had to do was to admit I had failed and the curse was lifted!

Now - what to do about the other two.

Perhaps if I went to confession.....
