Hello, i just want to know if i edit a website that is already indexed on a search engine delete the index.html and add the new already edited website to my host as index.html. will it still be indexed or will the spiders have to index it again, if so how is there a way to edit a website that is already indexed in a search engine?
thanks in advance for any help.

Generally, you can just edit away.

If you have pages that are listed, it would normally make sense to keep them. After all you might be getting traffic you want to keep. A better way to change content is to add new pages.

If you completely change the content of your home page (e.g. from chicken to eggs), search engines may still show your site in their results for the old content. As soon as they've re-indexed your site, things should change over to the new content.

If your pleased with the ranking on your home page, I wouldn't delete it and change it to a new one. If the edited page is mainly layout and graphics, and there is no change to the CONTENT of the page, edit away. And add alt tags to the graphics ;)

Think you are keeping the File name same in all this.

so it would not effect and over time in your next index, Google would update your listings.
