Besides scouring WW, what other training would you suggest to learn SEO. I'm not a newbie and I've had some success with very competitive terms. But now I want to get a job doing SEO and I've even had other sites offer to give me work on my own. But before I take other people's money, I want to round out my knowledge and have a firm grasp of SEO.

Has anyone tried the Academy of Web Specialists SEO training? Are they worth it? Are they up to date?

Any suggestions for training would be appreciated.

All you need to know for now is here at webmasterworld.

you could read 24 hours a day for a month and still not come close to reading this web site.

Come to New Orleans if possible and ask a lot of questions. WebmasterWorld is probably the best resource for learning SEO because of the industry's ever-changing approach. SEO is so fluid that it's hard for people to develop a comprehensive class and keep it up to date. The best way to learn is to read all of the guides here by Brett and a few other people, and then start to apply those techniques.

Good luck in your SEO venture!

For the price of one course with them you could be a paid member here for years, with access to constantly updated information and knowledge of what is going on in the SEO world all the time. No contest on which is the best value.

SEOMike, is there a place where all the best guides live? I've read Brett's 26 steps thread and a few others which were really good.

The great thing about WW is that I do feel I could learn everything I need to know. The only downside is my learning is a little disjointed. I learn about advanced techniques in one area while not knowing all of the basic SEO tenets. If there was an organized way I could go about building a foundation of knowledge, then expanding from there - that would be ideal.

SEOMike is right, just go to New Orleans if you can and keep reading in here. Also do some searches in here on the subjects your having trouble with and read, read, read. This is a GREAT PLACE.

I sure wish there was. It would be great if Brett would add something like a Best of the Best category where all the best threads / guides live in one happy, easy to find place.

The best way to find good stuff pertaining to your questions here is to run a Google site search on WebmasterWorld and it will find what you need.

I keep track of helpful people and sticky them if I get stuck ;)

I just read this and i think some great points are made here...thanks for the tips SEOMike. I agree, it would be really cool with there was like a Best of the Best. I also never would have thought to sticky people that are usually pretty helpful. Thanks for all the tips guys.

I am hoping we can get some user groups going...look for a new topic post on that by me very shortly...
