I have a subdomain that does very well in SE's (especially Yahoo) and I decided to register new domain name for it.
I intend to do 301 to the new one but would like to hear any experiences regardind SE position after moving to a completely new (just registered) domain name.
The subdomain was around for about two years now.

I'd be interested to hear if you circumvent the "sandbox" using a 301 from a subdomain to a new domain.

My initial thought is that it would work wonderfully, but you might test it w/ one or two pages and see if they show up in the SERPS with the new address befre switching everything over.

Update:

I didn't have even a slight problem with Y!.
It took about three weeks and the site under the new name is in the same position as former subdomain (ranging from 1-3).
Google never indexed subdomain so it doesn't show it at all.
