absolute positioning using div

anybody have data on how this affects rankings

is it safe to use div tags to position text on an entrance page? Or does this adversly affect rankings?

I haven't had any problems with sites built like this (it's dreamweavers version of layers), infact it seems to be a pretty good way to position text behind a flash intro...
