Duplicate Content

duplicate content on different level domain names

I'd like to examine everyone's thoughts on duplicate content on sites owned by the same entity, using the same content from site to site but using different level domain names.

So, for example, the Top Level site is

widget.com

and all the other "sub-sites" are

widget.net
widget.co.uk
widget.nl
widget.be
widget.co.nz
widget.co.za
widget.ca

The "sub-sites" are all fetching the content from widget.com and serving it on their respective domain names.

What is the correct way of doing this without incurring duplicate content penalties?

Thank you for your help.

I don't think there is a way of avoiding this. Duplicate content is duplicate content. The search engines see it and only return 1 of them.

Most of the time it is the site that had the content up first.
