Hallway page advice needed

Hi guys

I am thinking about inserting a hallway page into one of the sites I manage and including a hidden link on the home page linking to this hallway. What I am worried about is the fact that I use doorways specifically optimised for he 10 major SE's and use a robots.txt to disallow specific spiders from seeing pages that are not optimised for them(trying to avoid spam). Is there any way I can use this method so that the spiders from one engine don't see pages optimised for another.

Any help greatly appreciated.

knoxy - if I follow you right it looks like you would have to make a hallway for each SE and use robots.txt again. You'll have an AV hallway that points to the AV doorways etc...

The other route is, of course, full on cloaking.

Yep Knoxy, you have just described full cloaking.

What you can also do, is make a directory for each search engine with the optimized files in it, then don't like to it. The only problem will be getting rankings on those pages that have no outside links to them.
