Versions of "Anchor Text"

Dear Members,

As all of us know using "Anchor Texts" in our Text links to the website has a major effect on our ranking for the keywords used in the "Anchor Text". Now I would like to know whether the SEs consider the whole phrase used in the Anchor Text as ONE-Keyphrase or they consider each word as well?

For example let's say I am targeting "dvd player" as my keyword. My question is that should I use "dvd player" as the Anchor Text or is it ok to use "high quality dvd players" or "sony dvd players" or other versions of them as well?

Please advise.

No harm in using them all.

You should find if you use kw1-kw2-kw3 you should also rank for kw1-kw3 and kw2-kw3 abd kw1-kw2 etc...

and how many versions of Anchor Text should we use in order to not being penalized by Google (let's say). I have heard that if severla links with same Anchor Text is used for one website, the effect will be negative or even accompanied by a sort of penalty. Would you advise?
