A friend of mine is asking for help on what he can do to get his site placed. The first thing I want to know is if his site has been spidered...any ideas on how I can figure this out without access to his log files?

If you are talking about a handful of the top engine bots including google, yahoo, msn, then you can do a search for the url at their sites.

For instance, if you search for : yourdomain.com at google, it should show the url as the result. If it does not, that may mean that google has spidered it, yet has not actually indexed it into their database.

So that should be a good start to see if in fact it already is indexed.
