I have a client who's company name is "Agatha Longkeyword1 Longkeyword2" (like Agatha cerulean widgets). We purchased both "agathalongkeyword1longkeyword2.com" and "agathalongkeyword2.com" . On all of the printed material it will be listed as "agathalongkeyword2.com".

  • Am I better having the content on the longkeyword2 domain or the longkeyword1 longkeyword2 domain?

  • On the site should we refer to it as longkeyword1 or longkeyword1 longkeyword2?

I would say that whichever domain url you hope to give more credit to in the end should be the one where you keep the live info and refer the other.

From a marketing prospective, it is always nice to keep the entire name yet that is not always necessary when dealing online. As you already understand, the shorter the domain, the easier for users to type and frequent.

From an seo standpoint, that will determine if you should be using the entire name throughout the site or the shorter version. If the name is keyword rich, and you will be trying to rank for them all, I would say use the entire name.
