Parked Domains

Hi,

For eg we have

Site A and Site B

This is the mail which i got from my client

We checked into this and found that there is actually only 1 site. Site B.com is only pointing to SITE A (it is a parked domain) and therefore there is NO duplicate content. It is only 2 domain names pointing to the same place. This is what we found by Pinging the site. We do not believe that parking a domain name is a black hat practice; please let us know if you have contradicting information?

Does this harm my website rankings or indexing in any way

Inputs appreciated

Regards

You'll need to check the server headers to make sure those parked domains are returning a 301 status. If they are returning a 200 status, then yes, there may be some duplicate content issues to contend with. A competitor could wreak havoc on your site knowing that you have two parked domains returning a 200 status (which means OK).

id like to know more about this 301 status thing.

i posted a message today:

We have a site online with a very good established domain name that gets a visit from google on a very regular basis.
we also have 1 or 2 other killer domains that, if we able to implement would see outstading results for us, as the main key phrases we are trying to be found under are that exact domain.

we only managed to get these domains recently and as the site is an established company there is no chance of re-branding etc.

so, as if you didnt know it already, my questions is:

How do we have the same site listed with a primary domain of www.mysite.co.uk and 2 sub domains of www.mysite2.co.uk and www.mysite3.co.uk WITHOUT being severly punished by the major searc engines.

if there is not a way, then fine, i just need to know

thanks

ps. all domains listed are fictional

and it sounds like im enquiring about the same sort of thing. all help much appreciated.
