Submitting your site to the search engines for free...

Where do I go? Should I only submit to google and yahoo?

Don't do either. Spend your time trying to find web sites that might link to you. Then the search engines will find you on their own by following the links.
Without links to you, your search engine submission exercise is essentially worthless.

Find directories that lists sites for free. Make sure you submit under the correct subject listings related to your site's content. Many webmasters are saying that DMOZ is not as influential as it used to be. Perhaps. But if you have good content, it is still wise to get included in DMOZ.
