I have a quesiton which is coming from a true beginner, but no other place to start.
I am designing a site targeting key words for that area. The problem is I have incorporated information on each area around the key words, for example a key word of DREAMS, I have listed and targeted information of NIGHTMARES, SEXY DREAMS, NIGHTMARES etc. on my page on each area.
(sorry description sucks, hope you get it)
Will this confuse a spider searching my site? Will it associate the site with too many key words. The words tend to be around the same area and target to top few, will this affect ranking or how the spider searches the site?
Thanks for any insights or help.
Stick to one keyword-subject per page, i.e. a page about nightmares. Then place that keyword in your <h1> tag, and only once throughout the copy. But mention lots of other related keywords so that the spider knows what your page is generally about. If you want to have a <h2> tag (like a sub-header), mention the keyword in here too.
There was a time when lots of repititions of the keyword were necessary, but not any more. Be sparse!
Remember to place the keyword in your title tag and alt tags too, and if possible make your url keyword-specific - i.e. www.aboutdreams.com/nightmares
Hope this helps...
