After launching our company's site a couple of months ago we have been working extremely hard on backward links and free submissions to all the search engines. This has been ok to date but as we have now made a little money on sales, we would like to reinvest this to gain more traffic. We have roughly £250-300 to spend. I know this is not much but we are a small company and at the moment money is tight, we have looked at the paid yahoo directory or paid submission to overture - are any of these worth it and does anyone know what difference this makes?!

We have used google adwords but it doesnt really seem a good return as it seems to cost as much as we make!?!

All your thoughs are very much appreciated by a newby like myself!

Thanks...

Hi Rogerg,

If I were you I would not waste my money on a Yahoo directory submission. It doesn't seem to help your PR as much as it use to.

If I had that money I would invest it in a PPC campaign with Google or Overture. At least that way you are buying guaranteed traffic. Just set a daily cap on your budget, and try and find keywords that don't cost a lot of money.

I bet if you are creative, and work hard, and are not in a super competitive vertical you can make that money last for a month, and bring a few thousand new leads to your site.

Roger, you might also want to consider going with a press release to promote your site. It's very inexpensive, and we've found them to dramatically increase traffic 'and' backlinks. Here's a few links that may help:
