I am new to the the web promotion world. I have a site all ready to post, but i dont know which keywords to use and how to use them. I have a couple of questions

1. How do I find keywords?
2. Is the keywords meta tag important, and if it is how many should i put?
3. Should there be different keywords for every page on my site?
4. Should I rewrite the text towards optimal keywords, or should I find the keywords based on my text?

Thanks in advance for your help

Here are some answers to your questions.

Q. How can I find keywords?
A. Use WordTracker.com to find keywords related to your industry.

Q. Is the keywords tag important?
A. Yes, but not as important as the title tag and copy on your web page. Try and focus on fewer keywords that truly describe your site rather than coming up with too many keywords that don't directly relate to your site.

Q. Should there be different keywords on every page of my site?
A. I would target seperate but related keywords on different pages of my site. You want to try and build a "theme" for your website.

Q. Should I rewrite the text towards optimal keywords, or should I find the keywords based on my text?
A. I would try and build the copy around the keywords if possible. Do it in a way that makes sense. Sometimes people just pepper their web pages with random keywords in a blatant attempt to attract the search engines. This may work for getting the traffic to your site, but once the user gets to your site, they may be confused by your copy.

Hope this helps.
