Hi there,

Its been now a few times i've seen this and i'd like to know if you guys experienced it before or have a name for it:

- lets say you submit a site ..after a few days you get rank (sometimes pretty well) on yahoo or google, but after a couple of days, it happens that the site is 'in and out' the ranking (im not talking up and down...completly disapears and reapears), somedays out, somedays in .....I still don't get this one!

Anyone any odd or suggestion about this issue or is that usual for you too?

thx :)

I've experienced exactly what you describe with a new site recently, where it would appear for a couple of days then drop completely out of the rankings.

I don't know what this is called or if its related to the google sandbox effect but the only advice i've been given it to be patient and it should sort itself out.

So far the site has stayed in google for the past 5 days so fingers crossed its there to stay!

New sites are sometimes give a short-term rankings boost in Google - I would recommend researching "freshbot" for more information on this.

In part you are seeing varying results because both Yahoo & Google use different data centers to show results. Sometimes these datacenters are not in sync, so searching for your pet term twice in a row may result in 2 different results.

Exactly what I'm seeing...I've had my site online for years, and had good rankings until I recently tried to improve/clean up the site a bit. Now, it'll be in good position (back where it had been for a couple of years), then drop completely out of the directory... A few days later it's back in for a day or two, then gone again. Confusing!

Yep this is most confusing... is this really related to the sandbox effects...probably.
I've seen improvements within 1 mounth but i have a site that is still in and out for 2 mounths and that drives me nuts.
We know that google, on purpose, will be confusing in its ranking of new sites because they don't want SEO to know how easy it can be to be well ranked and better reverse engineering the algorithm...
Working on the link popularity apparently helps with this but anyway thats another subject.
I don't like the fact that a GOOD web site with valuable information may not show on Google (and yahoo but less) quickly.
For me it decreases the interest of Google greatly, as the link popularity does too (if you really think about it ... that not a very good way to rank a site)

Well, im done with #*$!ing against the unfair google and im going back to work lol

This isn't a google only thing. Happens in Y quite often as well.
