Rules for remarks in code?

Do SE's read remarks in code? I have a number of remarks to myself buried throughout my site like:

This is for brand x parts
-->

Does that sort of stuff get picked up by the engines? I hope not, 'cause it would probably look kinda nasty :-)

It does get picked up. However, it does not typically show up in the cache or have any influence on rankings. Check out one of the many spider simulators on the web to see what will get indexed.
