If you were searching my search engine we would get a zero result if you simply searched for a domain name and it wasn't already indexed by us!
That way we can visit the web site, check it's content and if it's clear of porn then we will automatically index the web site, we then always contact the web site owner to inform them that they have been indexed.
We don't have an ADD URL, Suggest URL or domain page, our server checks each zero resulted search for a possible domain name entry. We also compile a list of zero rated search results because it shows us that someone searched for something that we didn't have, we then have people search around so that we can index the data and it builds our searchability.
Luckily New Zealand is quite small so we don't have that far to search since we only index NZ based web sites.
So far we have indexed around 35,000 web sites and it's growing daily.
Next week our Australian search engine will come on line and it will share it's index with us, soon we will cover the southern hemisphere.
Starting up a new search engine is a hard task, you have to guess what will be searched for before you release it onto the web.
Web site owners never know if they have been indexed, we have decided that we will inform them when we indexed them and the results.
If someone has NZ based content or things that Kiwi's could find useful or interesting within a web site and they simply search for there domain name to see if we have indexed them, if we haven't we soon will because of the way we gather our data.
One guy the other day searched us to see if we had anything on [snip] which gave a zero result but one day leter his site was indexed and he was emailed the results.
Using this method we can be more searchable..
Many regards
Dave Andrews

The word you should be using is "submit" not "summit".

There is no point in optimizing your website for the search engines if the search engines don’t even know you’re there. This article discusses search engine submission and its do’s and don’ts.

Free vs paid listings

It’s still possible to get listed in most of the search engines (and directories) for free, but ‘free’ inclusion often comes with a hidden cost: delayed indexing, if at all. When you’re looking to get listed on search engines as soon as possible, you need to start thinking of using paid listings. Google, for example, has a paid listing system (AdWords) that helps new websites that are not indexed by Google yet to get instant exposure on a wide scale. Overture has a similar implementation.

Paid listings give you a head start in terms of instant visibility. If you intelligently continue your SEO, your link building campaign would start to show positive results by the first month or so. The extra exposure afforded by paid listings combined with a variety of inbound links (extremely important for new websites, as Google themselves say on their website) helps you get your website in search engine results a lot quicker.

I hope this helps!
