Print-Friendly and Cloaking

Is a "print-friendly" version of a dynamic site considered cloaking?

Hello all,

We've been playing around with various ways of indexing our dynamic site. One idea tossed around was to create a print-friendly version of each page, including sitemaps. Since links would appear on the dynamic pages, would this approach be considered cloaking?

Thanks for the feedback!

Do you mean removing all images, leaving only the text (more/less)?

If yes - the answer is probably yes. It's cloaking. The bot pays attention mainly to text on your pages.

Not an issue, we have had printer friendly versions on many sites for many years without any problems.

Not if these printer friendly versions are shown in exactly the same way to any useragent. Cloaking is showing different content depending on what useragent is. There might be issued with duplicate content on site, but ratio of duplication should not be that high and any search engine that is looking for dups should allow leeway to allow useful functionality like "show printer friendly".

Thanks, all!

As the page will be exactly the same regardless of useragent or bot, I'll assume that we're not cloaking. The links for the useragent will be readily available on the site, so again I'll assume we're not cloaking.

Best regards!
