I do SEO and work out of the UK. Most of my clients are UK or European-based and interested in those search engine users.
I currently use WPG for the keyword reporting but am finding that it doesn't do a great job on reporting on engines non-US based. For example, when I want to report on Yahoo web results, I want to be able to search these from uk.yahoo.com so the results appear as a UK user would see them. The Yahoo database skews heavily in favour of sites from that region and so its worthy of being viewed as a country specific search in my opinion, whereas in WPG it isn't.
They also don't cover many of the Google geographies, and Ask.co.uk returns "all web" search results not UK-based site results.
So long and short of it is, does anyone use anything else for keyword tracking across European and UK websites and would recommend the tool?
Thanks,
Paul
I'm based in the US and when I do UK research, not only do I search UK regional SEs I also run my system through a proxy to deliver results as someone with a UK IP would see. There IS a difference when you search with an "in country" IP.
by the way... WELCOME TO WEBMASTERWORLD!
Does anyone have any prices for these alternative products? I like the idea of being able to add different engines according to my requirements.
My main bone of contention with regional reporting is take Yahoo for example. My client comes 3rd for a really competitive phrase on the Yahoo "search all sites" results when you search from uk.yahoo.com. It re-orders according to the fact you are searching from this site rather than www.yahoo.com which weighs in favour of the .coms and my site comes nowhere.
Now I am aiming this website at UK traffic who are far more likely to search from uk.yahoo.com rather than www.yahoo.com as they'll have .co.uk email etc. So to highlight results achieved I need a product that will search uk.yahoo.com for results rather than .com, same goes for ask.co.uk as well (I want to report on uk results only).
Frazzles my brain at times I have to admit.
Cheers,
Paul
Does this program create the same "penalty" using WebPosition does? Is this a violation of G's TOS?
At advancedwebranking.com they write
"Search Engine Friendly
Advanced Web Ranking emulates a manual search through each search engine. It works exactly like if you were manually checking your keywords ranking position. This way, Advanced Web Ranking is able to produce reliable and accurate positioning reports. "
Is this MANUAL emulation legit?
