I have a website i need to optimise for, however the problem is there are thousands of keyword phrases to optimise for.
Its a [snip] website so we have keywords like [snip]"
My questions is, how can we optimise for 90% on the keyword phrases when there are so many.
Creating content for all the phrases sounds like the best solution, but would be very very time and resource consuming. It will probably the solution at the end, however we need to be competitive in the next 2-3 months, and putting 1000 pages of content up within that time i dont think is possible.
Thoughts?
Cheers
C.

Use something like overtures keyword suggestion tool or ****.
1000's of keywords would be impossible to target and expect high ranking on all - where 20 is fairly easy to achieve.
Small quality numbers is better than 1000's of non productive ones!
good luck

Also, there is a 'search term difficulty checker' tool out there to help you get a sense of what you're up against in terms of competition (search for it)
and as mentioned in the previous post, Overture's keyword suggestion tool can give you an idea of monthly search volume for each KW phrase, to help you prioritize which KW's are worth going after.

I think you should create a page for each and every keyword. It could be a product information page, a FAQ page, a glossary page, a tip page, a recipe page or whatever fits with your theme and then mix it up. Some pages need more content with a bit more repetitive use of the term and others a short glossary description works. Then watch your logs and see how the visitor moves through the site to see if the page is successful. It’s not just about being number one but what happens once your visitor enters the site. What next?
