Keyword prominence over density?

This is my first post(hi everyone)(newbie at SEO) and maybe this has been asked before. I was wondering which is more important, keyword prominence or density. Also how is prominence determined? I have played with this a little and one change can bring prominence from 60 to 89. But surely(typo fix) hurts density. One has to factor in to a better PR. But which? Thank you for any help on this.

I haven't seen a tool for calculating prominence before. Perhaps you could drop me a sticky message with the name of the tool you'r referring to?

In terms of which is more important, well, that's going to depend on how you're defining prominence I guess. Personally, I'd suggest prominence (by my definition) probably outweighs density - but I wouldn't discount either for the other.

Would you like to know about keyword density in 1997, or keyword prominence in 1999?

I have a site with keyword density-1.28% and keyword prominence as 94.44%. This site is # 1 position in Google. Then I have other sites with kw density at 24% and prominence of about 80% and I am not even in the top 1000 at Google for the keywords term. So I ask, is the kw prominence more important? Or is this a fluke? I am suprised at the non-interest on this question. I am new here and from reading other posts , usually there is good response to questions. Thank you <RS>
