Have new file names, delete the old?

I uploaded my new web site and the new edition has completely different file names. I looked at my logs, (yes, I know it's early yet) and the spiders are still crawling all over the old content. If I delete the old pages, will the spiders go back to the beginning (index.html did NOT change) and do it all over again? Will I get the new stuff indexed faster?

Thanks for the threads. I'll have to let thm perk a little longer though. They are realted but not quite. I didn't just rename but restructured. Some of my level 1 pages are now level 2 and vica versa, new stuff, threw out an entire category... I'll consider how some of these techniques will work for the ones that apply.
