Is this a doorway page?

I have some new competition in my niche market. Their domain name is keywordkeyword.com.

They are trying to take my current market share. Is there anything wrong with me registering
keyword-keyword.com with a page of information and a link to my main site as long as it's a real domain?

The worst part is the competition is a not-for-profit trade assocation that I am part of. Now they want to take over what I have been doing for the last 3 years.

Yep, that's a classic doorway.

Not really. But you won't see a significant benefit. Either target the keyword-keyword phrase using your existing domain or build a keyword-keyword.com site with more than just one page of content. Build a mini site with as much unique pages as possible. Submit it to directories and other places relevant to your niche and let it build natural back links. You can link it to your existing site(s) later - since there's not much benefit, you won't need to link the sites.

Take it as a new challenge and it will loose its bad taste. ;)

Thanks for the tip. I think I will start by creating a set of new pages on my main site and see what happens to the SERPs after google crawls it.
