Position of Static Content Pages

Does it Matter?

I have a site which is mainly an ecommerce store (all dynamic), but I am building (gradually) static pages with lots of quality content, relating to the products and topics of the store.

At the moment I have my home page as the front of the ecommerce store (hence very little static content) and my static content pages are accessed by links off the home page.

Is it best to have a static, content rich, page as the home page, or, as I have now (links off the home page) or does it not really matter? (in relation to SE rankings)

Thanks in advance for your help

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, golles.

If search engines seem to have no problems with your dynamic home page there is no significant reason to make it static.
