hi all,
i am finished with the static pages and now i want to optimize dynamic pages of website. i have added the meta keywords to the database from where these pages pick the keyeords.
i want to know that to get the dynamic pages into the SE listing, is it neccessary to add different title and description for each page?

Is it neccessary to add different title and description for each page?

Yes. I'll assume that you have a template page that you are using. Within that template you'll have your structural elements for the layout of the page. You might do something like this...

<title>Insert DB Variable for Title Element</title>
<meta name="description" content="Insert DB Variable for META Description Tag.">
<meta name="keywords" content="Insert DB Variable for META Keywords Tag">
<h1>Insert DB Variable for Heading Element</h1>
<p>Build content here from multiple DB Variables. Interweave your copy logically.</p>

You may end up building content by blending multiple variables together and adding static text to make it read well. Remember, its the visitor you need to think about. Weaving DB Variables into various elements of content is the goal.

Additionally, you may well have to create a hierarchy of site maps to guide the SE spiders. This is particularly true if your database is set up to deliver more or less an infinite number of page variations.

In that case, you do not want to try to get all variations indexed... It won't happen, and you'll dissipate your PageRank.

Instead, you want to lead the spiders to those particular pages that best represent phrases that are likely to be searched. The most competitive phrases need to be nearer the root of your sitemap hierarchy.

I'll leave it for someone else to talk about the details of the hierarchy and the site maps. These have been covered lots of times on the forums. Search "theme pyramids" and also "site maps."

When you say "sitemap" do you mean just a page with a sitemap on it? How does the spider know to read the sitemap?

When you say "sitemap" do you mean just a page with a sitemap on it?

I actually said "hierarchy of site maps," because if there are many dynamic pages, one site map won't handle them all.

A site map is a page full of links and perhaps short descriptions, like a small version of dmoz or the Yahoo Directory. In the case of a dynamic site, the links selectively pick out pages you've created to be indexed for search.

How does the spider know to read the sitemap?

You link to it prominently and the spider follows the links.

On a very large site, if you link to every page on the site from one site map, though, Google won't spider all the pages, because GoogleBot maxes out at about 100 links a page. I like to keep the maximum link count down to 50 links per page. So, for that reason alone... just to get your pages spidered... you'll need more than one site map.

You also want to be selective about how you funnel both your PageRank and your visitors around... more PR (and visitors) to main pages targeting more general phrases. This is where the hierarchical structure comes in.

The home page of dmoz is interesting in the way it funnels both visitors and PageRank by picking out some main subcategories and linking to them.

I've just posted a slightly more elaborate version of this in the Supporters Forum and I don't have the energy to repeat it:

For non-subscribers, though, here's a link to the thread I refer to in that post...

You're also going to have to clean up your dynamic urls.
