I do my marketing by picking my key word then optimizing a web page to that keyword(s) then I check serps for that key phrase to see where I am at.
So when I look in overture where it tells me that a phrase was searched x amount of times. If there is 50000 pages in the search results then there is a possibility that 50000 website owners searched that term to see where they are in serps. This may be an overexageration but the point is what % of the people searching for that phrase are going to buy or use based on their search for that phrase.

Hi Steven,

It all depends on what type of industry you are in. If you have a niche market then chances are your going to see a good conversion rate. You may have a product that they cannot find elsewhere and it may also mean you will get repeat custom if they like your site and services (and the price). If you are in a competitive industry then plenty surfers know they can surf around a bit longer to find the best prices because of price wars.
