Effects of URL on rankings

Hi All

Aplogies if this has been asked before.

What influence does a URL have on the rankings. If i wanted to be ranked top for say the term 'company services' and had the domain 'www.companyservices.com' how does it increases the chances of high ranking, if i have implemented all other general principles of optimisation.

would it make a difference if the domain was 'www.company-services.com' or 'www.mycompanyservices.com' etc

how much influence do the TLDs have on the ranking, ie is 'companyservices.com' more likely to be picked then say 'companyservices.net' etc.

This question has certanly come up many times in the past. Remember that you can use the site search at the top of the page to find many answers without needing to post.
