Tons of backlinks from the domain itself, how and why?

Hi,

There are some sites that I visit, and when I do a backlinks check using Google's TOOLBAR it shows hundres to thousands of links from the domain itself.

How do you get backlinks from your site? I have a site but all the backlinks are from other websites.

I have a link on each page to my home page, but that doesn't seem to get me where some other sites are.

Do a sitemap with regular text links, and do a straight text link to the sitemap from your home page.

so a sitemap can do that much for a site in terms of # of indexed pages huh?

Also, if your internal pages are less than about PR 4, they won't show up as backlinks (though G does certainly recognize them as backlinks).

How strange i just arrived and wanted to ask the same question.
I think the pr question answered mine,i have pr3 so thats why i guess.
