Redirecting html pages to aspx pages

How to best redirect html pages to aspx pages

I have a website that is in html. There are about 50 pages on the website that are in HTML.

Now I have built a dynamic site which is a CMS system in dot net. I have the site ready but I have not made it live.

The reason is that the html pages would cease to exist once I make the dynamic site is made live. Therefore I fear that the html pages that have been indexed by search engines would not be found by the crawlers and the website would be penalized.

Am I correct in my observation?

What is the best way to implement redirection without being penalized by search engines.

Those html pages would be looking like "about_example_widget.html" for this you can create to a switch statement and inside that 50 cases each one corresponds to redirect statement for a aspx id. Then include this code snippet in the header area of your home page.

For SEO safe approach would be Apache mod rewrite using which you can create alias utls that looks like older file names. This is also called internal redirect. ths following page has good article on that
