Hi,

I have started a non-profitable website, about 2.5 months old. I look at my stats everyday, only to be disappointed, hoping one day to get lots of visitors. But at the moment I get about 50 a day. It is framed, has no ranking, about 5-8 links from other websites.

I applied to a few search engines, and google, yahoo, msn have linked me.

lycos, alltheweb, altavista and dmoz haven't (yet).

what should be my next move?

advice appreciated.

Step One
Ditch the frames. SE's don't like them and the limited support they do have could well disappear in the not too distant future. I won't even go into the pure hell it puts users through.

Step Two
Get more links and more importantly one that gets visited by the bots at least every other day.

As a non-profitable site you should have lot less problems exchanging links with other sites which are on the same lines as yours.

Step Three
Read other posts and check that you have set up your title and description tags properly and also that you don't have the same words in your tags on every page.

Step Four
Download a text only browser like Lynx or Opera (which has a text only option) and check to make sure you can navigate your whole site through a text only browser. If you can't then neither can the SE's. Don't bother doing this until you've removed all the frames

Step Five
Keep reading the messages on this web site.

Simon.

thanks for the advice

Apart from having frames, I think I have correctly done the other stuff. That's why I'm so frustrated.

It's the frames that are causing you the most damage.
