What I am finding is when I type in an accommodation specific search Google is listing the home page and not the relevant section.
This is reflected in the accommodation section which ranks higher for specific terms than the sub-sections.
The home page does have all the search terms on it and even in the page title. I did this as I figured the home page should reflect everything the site is about.
Now what I am thinking is removing the accommodation specific words from the page title and making it broader.
My worry is by losing these terms for a high ranking page I might lose the position altogether rather than transferring it to the inner page.
Any ideas, suggestions?
Thanks,
Chris
A question I have is why you don't want them to land on the home page? You get an extra chance to show them something that way, and personally, I've noindexed lower level pages before to create this situation, not avoid it. My personal thought is you should take advantage of the extra page view, unless they're looking and clicking back immediately because it's too difficult to find what they're looking for, and then I'd just make it easier...
