Rank, once again

How is it possible to rank on page 3 (29th) on google, on page 3 (27th) on yahoo and rank on page 1 (8th) on bing.com.
What am I missing? What are the differences among these search engines?

BTW the keyword I am ranking for is pretty competitive.

Dude, that question is too big.

All the search engines have complicated algorithms ranking billions of potential pages and running them through hundreds of filters. They're bound to end up with differences.

You'd probably need to concentrate time on each search engine to try to rank better in each. Just for example, I've read that Bing is big on local searches. Another example, Yahoo may reward your site for being HTML valid. Those are just small factors in the big mix.
