I would focus more on conversion rather than volume of traffic. Of the 6-8k visitors from Google, how many are telephoning you for your service or product? Qualified traffic is the best kind of traffic but if they don't convert to sales it is a wasted opportunity (unless of course your webpages are intended to direct the qualified traffic to other web sites because your intent is to get the traffic to click a banner or search engine ad to elsewhere in order to grab a nickel or dime here or there; this is a form of reverse marketing that Internet marketers globally seem to easily profit from, at the expense of innocent people's search engine marketing budgets [but that's another story I suppose]).
Sorry I got off track a bit.
I saw some analytics stats for a newspaper today and they have around 65000 indexed pages and get 22-25000 visitors from google per day.
I've even seen 100 page sites get 10k visits per day.
