Is this just some kind of 'organic' climb that happens with some new sites. Or were my clicks counted. A lot of sites ahead of me are old forum listings. I'll bet the individual pages listed hasn't had traffic in years. I would guess traffic is one of the parameters evaluated by Google to change page position. Could I generate more traffic from other computers and move my site upward through this deadwood?
On a similar topic. On the day my site was page 6, it was found on page 12 on a friends computer across town. Why so?

You may want to read up on the Google Sandbox [google.com] for new websites and also on Google's Personalized Search Results [google.com]
It is not unusual for a new website to initially climb up quickly in Google's results pages. Very often, this "honeymoon period" is then followed by an abrupt drop. Over time as the new website gets built out further and matures it will find a more stable position.
Your friend sees different results because of G's personalized search feature. There are many variables that can affect the position at which he will see your site, including his location, the time of day, previous searches - especially when logged in to a Google account.
