Hello friends,

today i came across the most strange thing of my life. while browsing through my competitor's backlinks in Yahoo, i was amazed to see a backlink from the commneted text being counted by Yahoo i.e. the link within <!-- -->.

i am utterly confused. please tell me if the text within the comment is counted?

Thanks
Shailendra

Spiders have always looked at all text even javascript. They just did not execute it. Just because you see them doing an LD does not mean they count for anything.

Yahoo also shows links with rel=nofollow...like ogletree said, doesn't mean they count it.

Sad to report HTML is easy to read. Including comments. If it can be read it will be. One reason why my comments never contain links, or anything else I don't want revealed.

It is possible that they counted it before it was commented out, and are taking an eternity to delist it because they haven't yet seen the change of status or are failing to act on it.
