Hi

The page I'm going to make, I've too many links pointing to the same site and same content as well. So in order to avoid indexing of too many out going links by the Search Engines I wanted to discuss it with you that if I give those repititive links through .gif images, then will the search engines ignore those links as .gif images are generally ignored by the robots.

I've to find a way out for these links as otherwise my site will have too many outgoing links, which can really effect my PR.

Eagerly waiting for you reply,
Vani

as far as i know outgoing links do not effect your PR. the PR you "pass on" to a linked page is not deducted from your site.

otherwise no-one would link to anyone ;-)

But if the proportion of Outgoing links is more than incoming links, then I think that PR surely gets effected. Isn't it?

If we link to a page its a vote to that page and more outgoing votes than incoming votes would make the difference. To make it simpler can you please tell if I use .gif images, then would it be crawled/indexed?

if you mean this:

<a href="someblahdotcom"><img src="someimage.gif"></a>

then thats still a link and will be followed.

javascript links would probably work the way you want though as spiders don't parse scripts as far as i know.
