Hidden text and Search Engines

I have nine images. When an image has an onMouseOver, text is displayed on another part of the page. There are nine corresponding blocks of text that are sitting on top of each other on the same spot on the page all hidden and only made visible when the corresponding image has a Mouseover.

How does Google and others treat this? I know you can get banned if they think you are spamming, but I am not- I am only making the page more dynamic and the text describes the picture and the page it's linking to.

Also, I have keywords in the texts and good content- will they count in SEP?

Many thanks

i doubt you will be banned or penalised.

it's all about intent, in my opinion. if it's part of how your user interface works it's not intended as spam and google won't penalise you.

I feel the same way as you, stripey.

But what about the content of the hidden text that's all piled on top of each other?

Do you think it will all still be read and rated by the search engines?

well, as long as its relevant its ok i guess. if its not relevant and just a load of keyword phrases designed to make the page rank really well then maybe problems.

for instance, if you do it like a NOSCRIPT spammer it might cause problems but if its relevant information and just a means of presenting it well....
