Pay for SE Ranking?

Is it worth it?

Hi, wondering if anyone uses a service to keep their web pages at the top? I have tried using keywords, etc. but my competitors are all rising to the top and I am falling below! I do some advertising on google adwords which seems to help but only for the item I am currently selling. It seems to be getting overwhelming-the game to stay close to the top.
Any suggestions would be welcome!

Hire a really good SEO or spend a lot of time here learning about how to do it. :)

They are serious about these forums. We've raised our position in the search engines up to number 3 for our biggest two-word search term, and we're climbing fast for about 100 others.

What is the cost of a good SEO and where do you find recommendations?
