Hello Meenka!

The key to getting top on Google is:

When you are talking of any topic, say Widget, just not talk about Widget but also about:

Widgets
Widgeter
Widgetized

and more. Also, if your content is FRESH than the chances of fast indexing is there. But this has nothing got to do with higher ranks.

Cheers!

targeting "long tail keywords" can be easier and more useful long-term.

There might be 1 million sites competing for "widgets".
There might be 1 thousand sites competing for "widgets for sale".
There might be 1 hundred sites competing for "blue widgets in many styles for sale" (long tail).

If you have 100 long-tail keywords on top, you may get more visitors per day than with 1 top single keyword.

Keyword Combinations Always helps, You want to try different words and find out whats being clicked on the most and go from there.

Also take a long look at your log files and see what the referer queries are sending.
