Can someone please tell me which page should I submit to a search engine and why?
Thanks.

Don't submit any - its a waste of time, energy and money. I have not submitted any new site or page for over a year or so. Google et al are crawler based search engines, which means they find you by crawling links.

If you don't have any links pointing to your site, submitting your home/index page to Google is worth the effort. Kind of a virtual 'Hello, I am here' notice.
Home and Index are usually the same page... be careful of naming conventions.

In addition to the home or default, it doesn't hurt to submit the site map.
To the linking point, you should also focus on getting a link to the home file (and site map if possible).
