Number of links per page

How many links should I have on a page? Does page rank make a difference?

I am trying to decide how many links to put on my landing pages, including how many footers for my internal link building. Is there a set number of links that I should work to, and dos the pagerank influenece this? Any help appreciated.

Their is no magic number. Put as many as it makes sense to.

Yes, PR affects links. The simple version goes like this.
1) You get a 'vote value' per page (call it V).
2) V gets split between all the links on your page
3) V is modified by PR
4) As links increase, you need more PR for V to be effective

Is there a set number of links that I should work to

No, but Google guidleines say 100. There are loads of threads arguing about this relatively arbitrary number, so search the site to get a decent idea.

A word of warning though. A 'landing page' should have content. If it looks like a collection of links, it might end up looking spammy, and might have its rankings depressed.

cheers for the help Shaddows, it makes sense that the more google rates a page the more it allows an outgoing link to be valued. Thanks again for your time
