I had spent $2k on 500+ articles to build a site but it just didn't took off so now I have decided to move all the content to my older site which ranks well and I think putting content their will be a better option.

I am just concerned about any possible problems with moving content from one site to another ? I will ofcourse be doing 301 redirect but my established site is old, trusted and make good money for me so I can't afford it to get penalized. Any comments ... is this a good idea ?

I think you're right to be concerned and it might best be to first try to figure out why the problem site didn't take off. You don't want to transfer those problems to your established site.

Those 500+ articles you spent two grand on: Are they all unique, any possibility of duplicate content problems? Are the articles thematically related in any way in some sort of formal site structure, or are they scattershot across the board?

Then, of course, basic SEO: On page factors, site nave, backlink profile; any problems you know of in these areas?
