Is there a good free search engline where you can add a site but INDEED! Not just waiting to be added and never to show up. Or if not free , which are the best search engines to try and what is the rate of submission?

Thank you,
Leila

I am not sure which ones are the best, however, here is how I do it for new sites.

I go to alltheweb and submit there.
I go to Dmoz and submit there.
(I dont know why - I have never had one added)
Then I add a bunch of links to my site and submit to
google.
(eventhough it sucks now and it doesnt really do anything)

All the other engines come into place themselves.

Once you're on DMOZ and google you pretty much start appearing everywhere else.

They are the only two that really matter at this time.

Alexa is a good engine to submit to, since it archives and adds exact details concerning your web site (you can also edit your contact info, site thumbnail etc.). Entireweb and Eurekster also.
