I'm in the process of building an info site and I was thinking about offering some articles in PDF form also. Since PDF's are spiderable is there any concern about duplicate content?

There is, but you can always block those in your robots.txt file.

I've often thought of doing the same but I was curious if the duplicate content would apply to a one-for-one (one article, one PDF file) AND an e-book of all the articles on the site.

I guess either version single or multiple entry PDF files would be duplicate content but does anyone have any experience with this? Anyone know of any negative effects?

Just signed up here looks like one could learn alot just reading the posts, and saw that post regarding duplicate content-

wow i never thought of that-i had phenomenal success in the engines last summer for one small site in particular--as i recall right about when i put up a pdf version (which was a duplicate more or less of the index page) thinking it would yet improve my cross-the-board rankings i nearly disappeared from them shortly thereafter.

The site is still there although beyond a monthly update i dont bother with it much. I think I'll go back to that old site remove the pdf and see what happens-any marked change will post it here.
