Does this make your PR weak?

Lets say you have a website with hundreds of pages within your site linked directly from the home page

Does EACH page you have make your PR weaker?

From what I understand, if your homepage has a PR of 4 then all of your pages linked DIRECTLY from your homepage should have a pr of 3.

Is this right?

No, that's just a seat of the pants approximation. Don't have it too hand at the moment, but an important part of the original PageRank formula divides the outgoing PR among each link. So basically, if your homepage is able to pass x PR, each linked to page would receive x/100s.

IMO Any advantage you may gain by linking hundreds of pages to the home page will be offset by your home page being to busy to be anything other than a list.
