So it took me about a year and a half to get my website to the top of the google for the keyword <snip>.

I have build the most comprehensive site with the biggest selection of products and made it as user friend as possible for an OsCommerce shopping cart...

Two weeks ago this chump took my #1 spot, he doesn't have a good looking site, no wording and he has maybe 1/20 of the number of pages i have indexed

What might be the possible reason and how do i get myself back up there?

Hey nirap, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

The "chump" might be a member here, so let's keep it respectful. ;-)

There are literally hundreds of elements that go into ranking a site. Aside from the clarity and quality of your site, and the absence of technical issues with the site, there are links. The more high quality backlinks a site has, with relevant, natural anchor text, the better.

Here is a resource that might give you some ideas:

If you had the number one spot, you can regain it back.
As caveman said, focus on getting quality backlinks. It should do the trick

ofcourse i did and it's great... That's what I've been doind so far though.. and it seems that buying links worked better for the competition.

So just wondering of the best tactic to add to implement that article or if there is anyone providing that service?
