Search engines don't index photos of my website

Search engines don' t index images

I am working to make my websites "search engines friendly" and I see the first results. One of my websites now appears in 3rd place in the search results. Some time ago it was on 5th page of Google search results.

My question is about photos. 1 week ago I uploaded about 200 photos of a public event of my city. All images have "alt" descriptions. The gallery is accessable by search-friendly URL like: http://domain/gallery/2
The spiders of Google and Yahoo visited this website and indexed all new pages, but not photos. Google and Yahoo search results don't show any images of this website.

What I am doing wrong?

You're probably not doing anything wrong. Unless things have changed, the G image bot is different than the regular one and doesn't crawl on the same schedule. Plus, image updates happen much less frequently. I don't know about Y, but it may be the same. You might just have to be patient.

My site was online for 18 months before Google indexed any of its images.

If I recall correctly, Yahoo took a couple months longer than that, and hasn't shown the same eagerness for them that it has for the text pages.

Only MSN/Live indexed the images quickly, but their behavior has changed drastically in many ways, so I don't know what their current crawling behavior is.
